11 years have passed since I finished my first project. It was for my Mom’s god-daughter.
It’s pale yellow with a heart detail pattern.
I’ve adapted the pattern many times but the original is the most special. For a special little girl.
Hadn’t realised it been so long since I last posted, but unfortunately Life sometimes overtakes.
Christmas was not the fun time ppl usually expect. My Nannan became ill & has since moved to a care home. My mom, aunt & I have had to clear her house. It was as if we were dismantling her life, all 89 years of it. I learnt a few things, laughed, almost cried. Nannan is still with us, just moved house.
In her house was the 1st piece of sewing I was ever aware of, a tapestry made by aunt, Linda.
Tutankhamun has hung there for 38 years. Almost 39 actually, she made it in 1974 the year my cousin Paul & I were born.
In 2007 I added my work to Nannan’s wall, a flag iris. 2010 I got to add another, a budgie. For many years Nannan kept & bred budgies. This piece looks remarkably like her last one, Misty-blue..Renamed Misdemeanor.
Nannan has taken the budgie piece with her as a reminder of
Misty-blue.
Don’t you just hate birthday around Christmastime? Do you buy a larger xmas present or two presents? Not much cash spare though… Age old problem. Likewise it’s the same with making presents & cards.
I’ve been so busy with both I’ve posted very little recently.
I have 5 birthdays between now & Christmas, although not strictly accurate as 2 are on Christmas Day. Even less helpful. 😦
This is for Steven’s dad. Apparently the 2 Chihuahuas they have Don’t belong to him but I don’t think anybody has told the dogs that. This looks like Poppy aka “The Chav”. Daisy is a black long haired chihuahua & she’s also known as “The Lady”. They’re both daft, lovely but daft.
(I know wrong way round.) This is for my mom. I couldn’t bake her a cake as I’ve had a sickness bug & that would’ve been wrong so I made a cake instead.
Steven’s birthday has had me busy & shifty as I’ve had to make it when he’s not about & as I’m useless at ironing (as previously discussed) I got help from my brother (also an ex squaddie).
This was his first cap badge, Pioneer Corp. This was amalgamated with several other sections circa1993. They become the Royal Logistics Corp. He has more of an affinity with this badge & proudly calls himself a Chunky!!
To me he’s just lovely. Wxx
I’m feeling light headed with all this xmas cheer. I’m normally more Halloween than xmas. Must be ill.
My next finished piece;
This xmas is our 1st in our little cottage & I wanted to mark it with a special piece.
It has all our names on it. Our special, beautiful blended family. Wxx
I’ve already posted the little robin but I’ve found a piece I made 3 years ago for the office. I work as a Reablement Officer (formally known as a Carer) on days but I used to work on the night team. As we weren’t allowed to sleep, Obviously, we brought craft things in to keep us awake, knitting, crochet, Crossstitch. Unfortunately our team was broken up last year but i still have my friends & my memories of those nights (& several pieces of work accomplished)
I started this Santa at the same time as my friend Louise. I made him & another for a friends children for a present. Louise Still hasn’t finished hers…uhoh a UFO!
I love the simplicity of this piece.
My daughter & stepdaughter have made pumpkins for Halloween.
Kristen put makeup on hers
But Lauren decided hers was unwell
Later we did apple bobbing but not trick or treating as rain & Lauren’s makeup do not mix!
Amazing lipdub video at my children’s school, Great Wyrley High School. This was done in 1 take. Well done everyone.
Find it on You Tube, “GWHS lipdub 2012”
Last year I learnt who of my friends were truly friends. For each of them I wanted to give a gift. Some I have bought, some i have made. Maryann decorated her dining room in red & black. I wanted some that fit the scheme without being overpowering.
This design is from Stitch Graffiti by Heather Holland-Daly. Colours adapted.
MaryAnn sent the photo to add to my blog, in her words ” Mate, me luv it! ” Gotta love Brummie Text Speak. Wxx
I know, it’s a depressing thought but if you sew your own cards & decorations needs must that you start months ahead.
So I have a small pile of family cards & the free gift in the CrossStitcher was a robin decoration.Â
Steven said he looked fluffed up from the cold so I added snow in the form of pearlescent beads.
